I’m pleased and surprised to have been nominated for the Liebster award.  ( I cheated and copied this information from the person who nominated me, the beautiful and talented Jumping_Jenny_444 so I knew what I needed to do…. and it’s a lot!

Info About the “Liebster Award”

The Liebster Award, or “the favorite blog award”, is an internet-based award that is given to bloggers by other bloggers. In Germany, the word “liebster” has the same meaning as “favorite, beloved, or dearest.” This award is primarily given to blogs that have less than 200 followers. That way, it helps the blogger with being more known to the world as well as giving the blogger the opportunity to learn about more amazing bloggers.

If you are nominated for the “Liebster Award”…then what??

Fear not, my friends! If you are nominated for the Liebster Award, these are the following steps you need to take in order to graciously accept your award…

1. Link back and recognize the blogger who nominated you.

2. Answer ten questions given to you, by the person who nominated you.

3. Nominate ten other bloggers for the award.

4. Create ten questions for your nominees to answer.

5. Notify your nominees.

And lastly, you may copy and paste the award (which is at the top of this post) on your blog!

The questions asked of me….

1.      What inspired you to create your blog?

There was too much inside me wanting to get out, so I created this to tell anyone who was interested what I’d learned along life’s highway. The funny, the sad and the simply odd.

2.      What was your favorite Christmas present and why?

Snow on Christmas day, because it creates a magic you simply can’t believe if you haven’t seen it.

3.      If you were stranded on an island, what three things could you not live without?

Sunscreen, a big double hammock, (no one said I had to be alone) and plenty of matches for fires.

4.      What is your favorite book?

No  not just one!- That’s not possible, The Wheel of Time (all of them), Davinci Code,  Dragonlance, Pride and Prejudice, Ask and it shall be Given, Using your brain for a change, LOTR, Harry Potter……

5.      If you could change your name, what would it be?

Nope, I’ve been there and done that, Jamieson it is.

6.      What color socks are you wearing?

None, but if I were they’d be purple.

7.      What is your usual breakfast in the morning?

Tea and toast and a hand full of pills.

8.      If you could have any talent (that you don’t have already), what would it be?

ESP or telekinesis, or perhaps pyrokinesis or perhaps all the paranormal abilities. .

9.      What is your life motto (e.g. “Hakuna Matata!” )?

       “This world and the next”.

10.  What is a future goal which you would like to achieve?

Tracing my family ancestry back around the world, on a world holiday with my husband.

The ten bloggers I would like to nominate…. and once again I cheated since I could not find people with less than 200 followers – except myself. (can I nominate myself???)

4. Random Blurting

5. A window of wisdom

6.Heart Whispers

7.The Ancient Librarian

8.Long View Hill

9.Simono 1968

10.A Spiritual Journey

They have all been chosen for either inspiring me, uplifting me, entertaining me, educating me, or opening my eyes to a world I never knew existed.

If anyone prefers not to participate in the awards I would be grateful if you could pass it on – perhaps you know someone you would like to thank or encourage.

My 10 questions to you….

1. How did you chose your blog name and ‘character’?  (subject matter)

2. Do you feel it’s important to write for yourself or your ‘audience’?

3. When do you do your best writing?

4. If there was one country you could go to for inspiration where would it be?

5. Of all the people who inspire you, who had affected your work the most?

6. If there was only one person you could save, who would that be? (end of days scenario)

7. If you were told you couldn’t write any longer what would you do?

8. Really, honestly, truly, does it matter if no-one liked your work?

9. What do you do to really chill out and relax?

10. Are you relieved this is the last question?

Once again, many thanks to Jenny, it is truly appreciated and thanks to all those I’ve nominated.

PS. I tried to check to see if anyone didn’t accept awards so if I have included you…I hope you understand.

Ciao, Susan x

I’ve learned some valuable lessons over the past twenty-four hours.

First: I was nominated for not one, but two blogger awards. I was surprised. I was pleased. I was secretly pretty chuffed ( and English phrase  which really means you are pretty darned pleased with yourself and life in general, at least I think so. It’s been a long time since I heard it let alone use it. You get my drift anyway.

Second: I had to write seven things about myself. Now I like to talk, have a little to say and usually that’s all to the good. That is until  need I need to write about myself. I never know what to say or where to start – the mind goes blank. It’s just not the done thing to blow one’s own trumpet. Yes, I realise in this day and age when Resumes and Curriculum Vitae are all about promoting oneself you need to get used to this, but it is still a little foreign to me.

Third: I needed to choose 15 people to nominate for said awards. This is actually harder than it sounds because  who is more deserving than someone else when each blog is individual and I get a huge amount of satisfaction from so many.  Eventually that was done.

Fourth: I’m having a horrendous brain fog week due to meds for the Lyme disease. No complaints, it’s just an annoying , irritating, rip snorting pain in the keester, and the head! So I thought I’d be clever. I chose my 15 blogs, got the links to them and decided I would notify them first because the actual blog I needed to do was fairly simple. Humpf!

Fifth: If you are having trouble getting your links to work it is not an easy job to do numbers 1 to 4. At present I am, they don’t seem to want to work at all. Instead of a pretty blue link which lets you know you have it right, I get an underlined item which you pray will work as it should. The alternate was the short link which will change colour, if you are lucky, when you post your comment.

Sixth: Now I’m having trouble posting comments. Error message reads ‘You cannot post comment”. Exit out of said post, back to the beginning and start again, keeping everything crossed it’s possible to and still type. Sometimes it only takes a second try but I did reach six attempts on one….. please don’t ask I have no idea what was happening. Apart from my blood pressure boiling.

Seventh:  Take a break Susan and start again, breath, calm, focus, and all is well in my world. Light bulb  moment hits. Write the blog, it will only take a few minutes.  Now I know there is a page, somewhere, I’m certain there is, with different award pictures you can use. Can’t locate it. Can’t get the info to copy the ones I have on my screen. Need to log out of WP and log back in, session has expired. I’m expiring! Back in and we’re off. Blood pressure rising again.

Eighth: Ok, my crazy link thing is still playing up. I have the blog addresses but do they work? I think so, I hope so. Save as a draft til later.  No, schedule it for publishing and it’s over and done with, I can’t worry about it then.

Ninth: My first notification that the link I supplied isn’t working. Now I know I should have published before sending the notifications out.  Too late, I have to keep my fingers crossed and hope someone is watching over me.

Ten:  The blog awards are great (for the ego and to say thanks) but it is far easier to write a blog than receive one and nominate others…. I know I’m going astray here but my fugue just wont let me work it out.  No, I don’t think I’m lazy.

So to all those I’ve nominated, apologies if the link doesn’t work. Hopefully my blog will make up for it. You are all listed there for posterity and my thanks are genuine. I also hope this explains the trials and tribulations when someone hasn’t yet learned their way around a site before they start to do something. Another lesson I suppose.

Have a beautiful weekend everyone….. next week should be better. Fingers crossed.

OK – the Owls are “Wise Old Birds” and I’m channeling a little wisdom for later. Can you blame me?! Apart from that, have you ever seen that golden glow behind a bird in flight before, that is pure magic!

Thank you very much Sarah, ( http://starrystez.com/2013/02/05/inspiring-blogger-award/ ) for the Inspiring Blogger Award

I feel truly honoured and totally surprised by this award.  I had begun to wonder at times how many people were seeing my blog – just one of those funny things  when you’re writing in the middle of the night like the proverbial owl 🙂

Guidelines for accepting this award:

1. Create a post and reveal 7 things about yourself.

2. Post the blog award on your site, indicate who nominated you.

3. Present the award to up to 15 bloggers that inspire you and include links to their blogs in your post.

Seven Things about myself. Believe it or not this is really difficult.

1. I’m a very private person, in person, and writing helps me to express myslef more easily.

2. I really love writing, it allows me to explore parts of myself I don’t look at very often.

3. I am really painfully shy. I’ve worked really hard to overcome this and hope I might be able to say I have when I’m up on the big stage! (OK I know its similar to 1. )

4. One of my ambitions is to be a speaker on the big stage.

5. I was the P&C President, Chairperson of the School Council and Head of the Budget Committee all in the same year where I lost my nerves over Public Speaking.

6. I am going to have my own farm (with my husband) which will be our private retreat and sanctuary.

7. I have two children who know nothing about my clandesine writing life.

The  blogs I have found inspirational and a font of knowledge or excitement I nominate are:

P.J. Hodge, Freaky Folk Tales

Ben Furrows, Travelling Thane Furrows

Daniella, Lantern Post

All the wonderful authors at Thrive on News

Kathleen’s Writings

There are so many more I love to read and these people have been wonderful sources of inspiraton for me.  Many thanks to you all for your generosity and time.
